I would like to say forgotten but that's not quite true. Close though. Not sure there's an official name for it but I'm one of those that witnesses ask about now and then and one of them says "not dong anything about it...but knows it's the truth..." with a downturned shake of the head while the other one nods knowingly. Then their conversation turns to the weather. Of course, I know no such thing and have said that but you know how that goes.

Self Proclaimed Doctors within the Dubs
by ShirleyW ina previous post regarding herbal meds brings to mind two people, of course they're dubs, that swindled those in "da troof".
back in the day, when my mother was first brainwashed and attended the edgecombe cong in harlem there were two teenagers, shirley and gladstone widdick, whose father was a jw but there mother was not (smart woman) they even relocated to queens around the same time we did in the early 1960's.
many, many decades later, there seems to be some kind of buzz within the congregation that iridiologist (sp), i'll just call him the guy that looks in your eye and can diagnose every problem you've had since birth, is going to be in his hometown in new york and that he was "hangin' up the shingle" while he was here, needless to say this self-proclaimed dr/quack was dr. gladstone widdick and his book of appointments i'm sure was longer than the dr. that performed bill clinton's open heart surgery.. i believe he was/is located in the north carolina area, are somewhere in around there, any of you every had your eyes gazed into by this dr/quack ??.

Hey mind my own, just remember that the WT one time leader was a self proclaimed "Judge".
My mom got hooked up with one of these jw quack doctors. Several of the "sisters" highly recommended him. He damn near killed my mom.
Very short version, she asked about her thyroid. Quack says "all is well". REAL Dr. says, "Not so!" She gets treated and recovers and she quit seeing this idiot. Now if she could only see the rest of the quackery for what it is.
I just wonder how many people this guy actually killed! -

Did you ever weasel out of an opportunity to witness?
by pmouse ini remember being a sophomore in high school and having some sort of discussion about religion in which the jw's and 1975 were brought up.
i can still remember today how my history teacher snickered and made a snide comment about them forecasting the end of the world so many times before it wasn't funny which of course cracked up the entire class.
this was in the early 70's when the 1975 armageddon date was bandied about.

i am intrigued at how fast the 15/2 speed internet will be compared to dsl.. jk.

I have to say it's great. Been connected for about a year now and even getting on someone else's DSL is intolerably slowwwwwwwwww.
TV seems to be clearer even on the non-HDtv.
Phone is phone and that's that.
Of course as internet goes, most of the time I'm trying to find solutions for working with video!! Why oh why don't they just make this %@#$!# stuff WORK????? sorry. whole separate topic. -

So many Stones favs. I used to be a virtual "fan"atic but no so much anymore. I've got "time waits for no one" playing now. LOVE Mick Taylor's solo on this one. It sort of has a quality like the solo on "Jackie Blue" by the Ozark Mountain Daredebils. Very flowing and I do like them kinda solos.
I always liked Satanic Majesties. My brother bought that whilst we were at an assembly! HA, gotta love it! I think it has on it what must have been the very first reference to cyber sex!
Seen the Stones a couple years or so ago. I was surprised at how STRONG Jagger's voice seemed. Just a good night perhaps? lol
Anybody else have a DVD called "Being Mick"? An inside look at the "real" Jagger. Quite good I thought. -
